LanteComb: New RTO Media
Regenerative thermal oxidizers (RTOs) have gained acceptance world-wide as an effective and affordable VOC control method. To ensure reliable and economical operation these systems, proper selection of heat transferring media is a critical decision.

LanteComb structured media from Lantec Products is a technological breakthrough in structured heat recovery media for RTOs. It features thin cordierite ceramic walls with an interconnected rather than closed-cell structure. This combination yields thermal efficiency and pressure drop advantages never before seen in the RTO industry.

Structured ceramic media which have closed cells experience constricted air flow, making them more susceptible to cracking due to a phenomenon known as thermal stress. LanteComb's inter-connectivity of cells allows excellent distribution of air flow, making it more resilient to thermal stress than closed-cell media.

The superiority of LanteComb also allows RTO manufacturers and end users more flexibility in terms of balancing capital versus operational costs. Although less LanteComb media can be used, an RTO using a little more volume of media will experience superior thermal efficiency, leading to a significant fuel cost savings to the end user.
